Analysis: Noel, who made his first start against a right-hander, was eventually pinch hit for by Nolan Jones, who had started the previous games against righties. Noel is 1-for-11 (.091) to start the season and has gone nine at-bats without a hit.

Analysis: Clase entered a non-save situation and was tagged for a pair of runs, including a solo home run. It's unclear why manager Stephen Vogt used his closer, other than the manager wanted to make sure the Guardians ended a three-game losing streak. Clase, who allowed just five runs over 74.1 innings in 2024, has already ceded three through four innings in 2025.

Analysis: Lively got off to a decent start Wednesday, striking out four of the first nine batters he faced. However, things took a turn for the worse in the third inning after four consecutive hits -- capped off by a Jackson Merrill homer -- gave San Diego a 4-0 lead that it would never relinquish. Lively is now up to a 6.75 ERA through his first two starts of the year but should have a decent chance to bounce back in his next outing, which is tentatively scheduled to come next week against the White Sox.

Analysis: Manzardo, who served as the DH in his first five starts, made his first start in the field. The 38-year-old Carlos Santana started the first five games at first but moved to DH for the day. Manzardo, like the rest of the Guardians' hitters during the three-game set in San Diego, had a quiet series, going 0-for-9.

Analysis: Jones is settling in after being acquired by the Guardians late in spring training. He had his best offensive game of the young season Wednesday after a 1-for-11 stretch with seven strikeouts over his first three outings. Jones is holding down the strong side of a platoon in right field.

Analysis: Rocchio will get his first day off of the season after going 3-for-15 with three singles in his first five contests. The Guardians will roll with Gabriel Arias at shortstop and Daniel Schneemann at second base for Wednesday's series finale.

Analysis: While the inability of Cleveland's hitters to solve Michael King and the San Diego bullpen gave Allen no margin for error, the southpaw created his own problems by getting only 55 of 89 pitches into the strike zone and generating just three swinging strikes. Allen had an impressive spring training, but the Guardians have plenty of options to replace him in the rotation if he continues to struggle. He'll look to rebound in his next scheduled start early next week, at home against the White Sox.

Analysis: Rocchio, who had a promising Cactus League season, has not carried that over into the regular season. Over 50 plate appearances this spring, the shortstop had an .828 OPS, which in retrospect was influenced by a .389 BABIP. Thus far through five regular-season contests, Rocchio is 3-for-15 (.231 BABIP) with one walk and one run.

Analysis: After a 3-for-17 start to the season, Thomas will get a chance to regroup Tuesday while Daniel Schneemann starts in center field.

Analysis: Santana has started at first base and served as Cleveland's cleanup hitter for all four games thus far. He's hit safely in three of those four games, going 6-for-16 with two doubles, three runs scored and one RBI. The 38-year-old (turns 39 on April 8) is projected to have an everyday role for the Guardians.

Analysis: Arias helped cover third base for the previous game-plus while Jose Ramirez dealt with a wrist injury. Ramirez returned to the lineup Monday, and Arias was back at second base, which he'll continue to share with Daniel Schneemann.

Analysis: The left-handed hitting Manzardo started each of the first three contests of the season, including one versus a southpaw, but he'll get a day off Monday against lefty Kyle Hart. Johnathan Rodriguez is getting a start at designated hitter as Manzardo rests.

Analysis: Austin Hedges will start behind home plate Monday and bat ninth against San Diego left-hander Kyle Hart. Naylor has gone 2-for-12 with one RBI and three strikeouts across his first three outings of the 2025 season.

Analysis: Ramirez suffered a sprained right wrist on a stolen-base attempt during Saturday's game against the Royals and didn't play Sunday. However, he's been cleared to return to action after just a one-day absence.

Analysis: The lefty-hitting Schneemann will begin Monday's game in the dugout due to the Padres sending southpaw Kyle Hart to the mound. Gabriel Arias will start at the keystone and bat seventh.

Analysis: Thomas was moved to second in the order with Jose Ramirez (wrist) sitting out. Imaging on Ramirez's wrist came back negative, and he could return Monday against the Padres. When all hands are healthy, The righty-hitting Thomas bats sixth against righties and third against lefties.

Analysis: Schneemann was in the lineup for a second straight game and cracked his first home run. He's currently sharing second base with Gabriel Arias, who was needed at third base for the injured Jose Ramirez (wrist).

Analysis: Bibee was in line to be Cleveland's Opening Day starter, but an illness pushed his start back a few days. He coughed up a couple of extra-base knocks Sunday but was able to skate around danger in the scoreless performance. While the two punchouts and nine whiffs are a bit disappointing, the 26-year-old righty picked up where he left off last year after posting a 3.47 ERA across 173.2 frames. Bibee is lined up for a road matchup against the Angels next weekend.
